Camel Head Rock

Duration- 1-2 Hours

Difficulty- Class 4 Out & Back Hike

Overview- The Camel, A.k.A. Camel Head Rock is a short but challenging hike off Schnebly Hill Road that can be easily accessed from the main parking lot. For a half day adventure this hike can be combined with the Window Caves. Individuals uncomfortable with exposure may want to try the window caves first.

Driving- A paved road leads to the parking lot where a pass must be purchased.

Hike Description- From the Parking Lot, cross over the main road and locate social trails that lead southward up to the main saddle. From the saddle hike west up a gully to an exposed ledge on the south or back side. From the exposed ledge on the back side, scramble your way up a steep chimney to the top of the Camel. Enjoy the views of Cathedral Rock, and Sedona’s tallest peaks before returning the way you came.
