Parking: Park at the End Of Rope approach parking just past Hartwell Canyon on your Right, and before the Loy Canyon TH.

Overview: A seldom visted canyoneering route in a rugged and remote wilderness setting. Reflections provides a true feeling of solitude, and offers up a few short but worthwhile rappels. The route is relatively straightforward and can be exited at almost any point if needed.

Approach: Starting at End of Rope Parking follow braided social trails toward the main approach gully. Cross over a small drainage and follow the gully up on the Left side. As you work your way up the gully to the top of the saddle between Loy and Hartwell Canyons. From the top of the saddle, work your way down the the main bench and continue north into Hartwell, passing over Hawk and Big Dude. Reflection is thenext watercourse after Big Dude.

Descent: Two rappels down a beautiful alcove system. .

The technical portion consists of up to four rappels, a couple of which can be bypassed or downclimbed if desired.

R1- ~ 75’ from a pine tree on the right side.

R2- ~40’ from a tree on the right side.

R3- 75’ from a tree on the right side.

R4- ~55’ from a tree near the edge.

 

Exit: After the last rappel continue down the drainage until it intersects with the main wash. Take a right down the main wash and follow it south to the exit point on the right side. Follow the Art wall Gully up and over the saddle, and back to your vehicle.
