Window Caves
Distance- 2 miles + 700’ (Sneak Route)
Duration- 2- 4 Hours
Difficulty- Class 3 Out & Back Hike
Overview- The Window Caves, also known by locals as the Hangover Caves are located off Schnebly Hill Road. This highly photographed destination takes a little more effort to access, making it a perfect getaway for hikers in search of solitude and big views.
Driving- A high clearance vehicle and a little patience will allow for the sneak route which cuts the overall distance and time in half. The road to access the sneak route may be closed during the winter or after heavy precipitation.
Hike Description- The Windows Sneak hike starts at the turnoff (T) from the side of the road, and crosses over the main wash where the social trail can be located. Follow the faint trail up a steep hillside to the intersection with Hangover Trail. Continue on Hangover to the main saddle. From the main saddle, paddle your way up the sandstone ramp towards the arch. From the arch, follow the cliff-band around to the wind caves. After enjoying the views and snapping a few selfies, return the way you came.
Alternatively, you can park at the main lot and follow the GPS track up to the caves (Red Line On Map).
