Chiquitos

Region: Loy Canyon  

Distance: 3.5 miles + 750’          

Difficulty: Moderate

Duration: 3.5-4.5 Hours

Longest Rappel: 85’

Rope: 2 x 100’

Anchor Materials: 40’ of webbing + 4 rapides

Parking: Park at the Loy Canyon TH.

Approach: Follow the track up through a notch, and around the west side of Loy Butte to the drop in.

Special Considerations: Due to the close proximity of the private property please refrain from using whistles and loud commands while on route.

Descent: The route is accessed by a 15’ downclimb into, and out of a tight crack. Once in the chasm you are treated to 4 back-to-back rappels, up to 85’.

R1: 50’ off tree RDC.

R2: 25’ off tree RDC. We used a Fiddle stick on this rappel, off a small tree on the right.

R3: 65’ off bush cluster.

R4: 85’ off tree down a crack.

Exit: Follow the track staying close to the cliffs and away from the private property line. Arrive at the dirt road and follow it back to your vehicle. (See map below)
